Israel bombs Gaza City with 'unprecedented ferocity'; tens of thousands evacuate.
According to witnesses, Israel is hammering Gaza City with some of the most powerful attacks in two years of conflict as it continues its operation to conquer the territory's major metropolitan center.
Avichay Adraee, an Arabic-language spokesman for the Israeli military, warned Gaza City's beleaguered population on Friday that it would be deploying "unprecedented force" and urged them to "take this opportunity and join the hundreds of thousands" moving south on the al-Rashid coastal road, which is now the only permitted escape route.
According to the Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza, around 450,000 Palestinians have evacuated the territory since Israel commenced its operations in August. At the time, Gaza City had a population of around one million.
On Friday, Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum reported "distressing" reports from Gaza City, with residents pressed west towards the beachfront road, unable to relax due to the unrelenting tempo of assaults targeted at destroying houses and infrastructure.
"This current military operation is completely destroying entire blocks, and there are still families trapped beneath the debris of the targeted houses, particularly in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood," said Abu Azzoum, reporting from Nuseirat in central Gaza.

Campaign throughout India to boycott American products in response to Trump’s tariffs
Campaign throughout India to boycott American products in response to Trump’s tariffs:
Many Indians are calling for a boycott of American goods in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's new tariffs, and as a result, a number of American corporations, including Apple, Amazon, McDonald's, and Coca-Cola, are encountering societal opposition.
India is the country with the most users of Meta's WhatsApp. Additionally, the nation has the most Domino's restaurants. Store shelves throughout the world are dominated by brands like Pepsi and Coca-Cola. Long lines are also observed for deals at Starbucks and Apple Stores.
New poll finds more Americans 'strongly disapprove' of Trump's second term: What to know
New poll finds more Americans 'strongly disapprove' of Trump's second term: What to know:
According to a recent study, Americans who strongly disapprove of President Donald Trump's second term are twice as likely as those who highly favor.
Two-thirds of respondents to a YouGov and The Economist study conducted from August 15–18 stated they have strong opinions on Trump, with the majority of those opinions becoming more and more negative. According to the poll, 23% of respondents strongly approve of the second-term president, while 47% strongly disapprove.
Across party lines, the majority of Republicans say they approve of Trump, while the majority of Democrats say they disapprove of him. This is consistent with polling that has been conducted since the Republican entered office for the second time in January.
According to a YouGov/Economist survey, 83% of Democrats say they strongly disapprove of the president, which is even more negative than Republicans' opinion. 54% of his Republican supporters say they highly approve of his performance, with slightly more than half expressing their satisfaction in similarly fervent terms.
According to a YouGov study of the data released on Aug. 22, it is a change from earlier in Trump's second term.
Most people still had strong opinions on Trump in January, with 69% expressing either strong approval or disapproval. However, in contrast to the most recent survey, 34% of Americans at the time highly approved of Trump, while 36% strongly disliked.

“Palestinians need a united action from the Muslim world: Turkish Foreign Minister”
"What the Palestinian people need is our collective action," Fidan stated during a meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Monday (August 25).
He underlined that in order to force Israel to find a long-term solution, "coordinated pressure" is crucial.
The OIC's primary talks would center on coordinating member nations' stances and reactions, as well as Israel's continuous operations in Gaza, according to Anadolu Agency.
Meanwhile, some 63,000 civilians have been murdered by Israeli assaults throughout the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, over 150,000 additional people have been hurt, and many more are still buried beneath the debris.
Bypassing the United Nations and other humanitarian groups, Israel began a separate assistance distribution program through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation on May 27 after violating the truce earlier this year. The international assistance community has mainly opposed this action, despite the United States' backing for it.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant were the targets of arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in November of last year for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Due to the continuous conflict in the enclave, Israel is also facing a genocide complaint at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
China-India fear 'water war' over two mega-dams on the same river
China-India fear 'water war' over two mega-dams on the same river :
India is concerned that a proposed Chinese mega-dam in Tibet would cut a major river's flow by as much as 85% during the dry season. New Delhi is acting swiftly to carry out its own plans for dam development after realizing this. Four people with knowledge of the situation and a government study that Reuters examined provided this information.
The Indian government has been investigating a number of projects to regulate the water flow from Tibet's Angsi Glacier since the early 2000s. Downstream, this canal affects or controls the lives of about 100 million people in Bangladesh, India, and China. However, fierce and violent opposition from the people of the nearby state of Arunachal Pradesh has thwarted India's aspirations. Residents worry that building a dam will drown their communities and ruin their way of life.
In the meantime, China said in December of last year that it will construct the biggest hydroelectric dam in the world on the Yarlung Zangbo River in a border region right before the river enters India. This raised fears in New Delhi that the river may be used as a weapon by its longstanding geopolitical foe, which also has territorial claims in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Siang and Brahmaputra are the names of the rivers that flow into India from Tibet's Angsi Glacier.
Senior Indian officials, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said that meetings have been ongoing this year to accelerate construction. In July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's office also held a meeting on the subject. In May of last year, India's largest hydropower company, protected by armed police, gathered survey equipment at the potential site of the "Upper Siang Project" dam on this river. Once the survey is finished, it will become India's largest dam. Delhi's worries about the effects of China's dam have been mirrored in an evaluation by the Indian government. Although Beijing has not made public the dam's specific plans, the analysis, which was reviewed by Reuters, is based on earlier research conducted by organizations with ties to India. The evaluation also included the anticipated scope and magnitude of the Chinese project, which is predicted to cost around $170 billion.
Delhi thinks that 40 billion cubic meters of water might be controlled by the Chinese project, based on papers and sources. During the non-monsoon months, the effects would be most noticeable in the border areas of India. However, this would be somewhat mitigated by India's own "Upper Siang Project," which has a 14 bcm capacity. Once constructed, it would thwart Beijing's attempts to control river flows while also enabling India to discharge water during the dry season.
A representative for China's Foreign Ministry responded to inquiries from Reuters on the subject by stating that the project is being implemented with rigorous scientific study centered on environmental and safety protection. The speaker went on to say that downstream nations' geology, environment, and water resources will not be adversely impacted.
The spokesman said that China has always maintained long-term contact and collaboration with downstream nations like Bangladesh and India, as well as a responsible stance toward the development and usage of transboundary rivers.
Chief Advisor's 7-point proposal to resolve Rohingya crisis
Chief Advisor's 7-point proposal to resolve Rohingya crisis:
In his seven-point proposal to the international community for addressing the Rohingya problem, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government, has advocated for a more effective role to be played.
The Chief Adviser emphasized that immediate and effective measures must be taken to stop the ongoing persecution and displacement of the Rohingya. In his speech at the dialogue, he outlined a seven-point proposal for a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis. These include: formulating a realistic roadmap for the swift, safe, dignified, and sustainable repatriation of the Rohingya; ensuring continued support from donors; calling on the Myanmar authorities and the Arakan Army to guarantee the security and livelihoods of the Rohingya; engaging in constructive dialogue with the Rohingya and restoring their rights; encouraging an active role by ASEAN and the international community; taking a firm stance against genocide; and expediting accountability at international courts.
To highlight the Rohingya crisis more strongly before the global community, a three-day international dialogue titled “Stakeholders’ Dialogue: Takeaway to the High-Level Conference on the Rohingya Situation” began yesterday, Sunday, in Cox’s Bazar.

3 policemen punished for growing beards without permission:"How does this make sense!"
Three police members in Habiganj district have been given minor punishments for the “offense” of keeping beards without permission. On August 21, an order from the office of the District Superintendent of Police imposed the penalty of “PD” (punishment drill) for two hours a day over two days.
The order, signed by District Superintendent of Police A N M Sajedur Rahman, stated that the following police officers from Habiganj district had submitted applications expressing their desire to maintain beards in accordance with Islamic Shariah. I did not suggest that Jamaat carried performed evil crimes on August 5: Fazlur Rahman:
"I did not say that Jamaat is a dark force or that it was behind the events of August 5," stated Advocate Md. Fazlur Rahman, a top Supreme Court lawyer and counsel to the BNP Chairperson. This could have been made up. Please pay attention to anything I say.
He responded, "Show me the proof of where I said this," in answer to a question from reporters. You have to play the entire sentence. It is insufficient to just quote two lines from YouTube. I never said anything like that. I'll apologize if you can demonstrate it by playing the entire video.
He said, "A lot of stuff are being made up these days. Additionally, this According to Fazlur Rahman, he was threatened with death by two French YouTubers he stated were associated with Jamaat. "I fight for freedom. I served as a leader for 1,200 freedom fighters in 1971. I will never compromise on this issue, so let Jamaat-e-Islami get down and discuss 1971," he said.
I reside in the Concord Building, which is in front of the Anti-Corruption Commission offices," he said. I heard seven or eight kids screaming anti-me chants in the morning. They want to start a mob and now want to kill me. Neither death nor crowds frighten me. In front of my house, seven or eight young men and women were screaming slogans. Two French YouTubers have also vowed to murder me in the meanwhile.
Israeli attack on Yemen's capital, Sanaa, kills six
Israeli attack on Yemen's capital, Sanaa, kills six
As the Israeli war in Gaza continues, regional tensions have become even higher. On Sunday (August 24), Israeli soldiers launched another airstrike in Yemen's capital, Sanaa. According to a Houthi health official, the attack killed six individuals and injured 86 others. Al Jazeera, a Qatar-based news source, reported the occurrence.
According to Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV, the attack on Sunday targeted an oil complex and a power plant in Sanaa. Israel also claimed to have targeted a presidential palace in the capital, saying that it was housed within a military complex.
The Houthis claim they fired missiles at Israel last Friday in an attempt to persuade Israel to halt its atrocities and blockade of Gaza.
The Israeli military stated that the operations were carried out in response to repeated attacks by the Houthi "terrorist regime," which included the launch of missiles and unmanned drones into Israeli territory.
Al Masirah quoted a Houthi military officer as saying that their air defense systems were able to cripple the majority of Israeli planes and compel them to retreat.
Following the Israeli strikes, verified video footage from Al Jazeera showed flames and plumes of smoke rising over Sanaa's cityscape.
In a statement, Houthi official Mohammed al-Bukhaiti stated that no matter what sacrifices are made, Israeli assault against Yemen will not discourage them from backing Gaza.
Abed al-Thawr, a Houthi Ministry of Defense official, denied that Israel's strikes targeted military sites, claiming that Israel was purposely hitting civilian infrastructure to cause pain among Yemenis.
Hamas also condemned the Israeli attacks in Yemen, describing them as a "blatant violation of Arab sovereignty and international law." Hamas welcomed the Houthis' bold stand and urged "all Arab and Muslim nations, as well as all free forces," to work together to remove the occupation.
Israel has been conducting strikes on Yemen's power stations and ports for the past month. Prior to Sunday's attack, the Israeli navy had bombed a power station in Sanaa last week.
On Friday, the Houthis said they had launched a hypersonic missile and two drones at Israel. They swore to support the Palestinians until the aggression in Gaza stopped and the embargo was lifted.

India will purchase oil from where the price is the best.
India will purchase oil from where the price is the best.
Despite increased pressure from the United States' tariff increases, India will continue to buy oil from Russia. During his visit to Russia, Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar made it plain that Indian companies will continue to buy oil from wherever they can get the greatest price.
In an interview with Russia's state news agency TASS, Kumar stated that New Delhi will continue to take efforts to preserve its "national interests." His interview was released on Sunday, August 24. The revelation was reported by NDTV, an Indian media outlet.
In the interview, Vinay Kumar highlighted that New Delhi's top objective is to secure energy security for the country's 1.4 billion inhabitants.
The Indian envoy made it clear that New Delhi's energy strategy is not driven by external pressures, but rather by the necessity to maintain uninterrupted energy supply for its citizens.
He claimed that trade operates on a commercial basis. If the terms of a commercial agreement are acceptable, Indian businesses will purchase oil from wherever it is available at the best price.India has already stated multiple times that acquiring oil from Russia is critical to its economic stability. Indian authorities have also noted that the United States and certain European countries continue to engage in limited trade with Russia, which has helped to stabilize the global oil market.
His comments came as the Donald Trump administration increased tariffs on Indian imports to 50 percent. This includes an additional 25% tariff on India's purchases of Russian crude oil.
The United States accuses India of funding Moscow's war in Ukraine by purchasing Russian crude oil. However, India has categorically denied this accusation.
Vinay Kumar described Washington's decision as "unfair, unreasonable, and unjustified," and stated that the Indian government will continue to take actions to protect the country's interests.
The envoy's remarks resembled those of External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. On Saturday, in response to a question regarding US criticism, Jaishankar stated, "If you have an issue with buying oil or refined products from India, don't buy them. "No one is forcing you."
India is currently the world's third-largest oil importer, with imports of discounted Russian oil increasing since 2022. Despite pressure from Washington, New Delhi has made it clear that there will be no compromise on energy security.
